Educational Institutions Affiliated To Nigerian Universities: Full List

You may have heard some people tell you that they attend a specific university in Nigeria, but in reality, they attend either a college of education or a theology school. If you are wondering whether they are telling you the truth or not, they are not entirely wrong because their various degree awarding institutions are affiliated or linked with these universities.

To avoid confusion, all legal universities in Nigeria are licensed to operate by the National Universities Commission (NUC) through what is known as accreditation so that they can award degrees and diplomas without any problems from the authorities, but there are also some other institutions that award degrees in affiliation to some of these universities that are recognized by the NUC, which we will list in a moment.

If you want to attend a degree-granting institution in Nigeria that you believe is affiliated with a university but cannot find it on the official list of NUC-recognized university affiliated schools, please look for other institutions that have the NUC’s seal of approval on this subject.

A number of Nigerian universities offer degree programs on the campuses of other degree-granting institutions, such as polytechnics and colleges of education. This is an agreement between the two tertiary education institutions that university programs should be run on their campuses rather than the university’s main campus. This ensures that the degree certificate you receive at the affiliated campus is the same as the degree certificate obtained by other students at the main campus.

You should be aware that this is not a part-time programme, but rather a regular degree programme similar to what is available at the parent university, with the exception that the course is offered at another campus affiliated to it, and as with any other university admission, you will need JAMB UTME to gain admission to the affiliate institution.

If the affiliate institution is a college of education, you should be aware that the majority, if not all, of the courses offered there are education courses such as English Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Education Accounting, to name a few, and you can apply for NYSC after completing your affiliate campus degree course, though your service year may be delayed by three years because the main campus will push to mobilize their students every year for service first.

Colleges of education, seminaries, theology schools, and other degree-granting academic institutions are among the tertiary education institutions affiliated with the universities on this list.
