Full List of States in Nigeria & Local Government Areas

Nigeria appears to be a federation with 36 states and approximately 774 local government areas. Each Local Government in Nigeria is administered by a Local Government Council, which is made up of a democratically elected Chairman and Councillors from various wards in the area.

These states are subdivisions of the country that have some autonomy. For example, the federal government of Nigeria is not supposed to interfere with the actions of the state government. Similarly, state administrations are not supposed to interfere with local government functions.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Regardless, they all collaborate to ensure Nigeria’s growth and prosperity. In my post on why federalism was implemented in Nigeria, I clearly outlined why a federal system should be kept in Nigeria.

Aside from the fact that Federalism lessens the workload of the government and facilitates the administration of the country, it also ensures growth and development at all levels of government. I mean, there will be equitable development in every region of the country.

In today’s post, we’ll go over a list of all the states in Nigeria as well as their local governments areas. It should be noted that this is the most recent collection of all Nigerian states and LGAs. As a result, if you are a Nigerian citizen, I urge you to read this carefully. Without a doubt, this piece will be eye-opening.
