This is the Biography of Professor Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo, Pastor, Lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor of Law, Senior Partner at SimmonsCooper Partners and incumbent Vice President of Nigeria.
Yemi Osinbajo was born in Lagos State to the Opeoluwa Osinbajo family, on March 8, 1957. On completion of his secondary school, he got admission into University of Lagos where he studied Law, and obtained his LL.B., and was called to the bar in the year 1979.
After his call to bar, Yemi proceeded to the London School of Economics, where he obtained Masters degree in law (LL. M). On completion of his academic pursuit, Osibanjo engaged in law practice, a profession he practiced so well that he was later elevated to the position of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
He is a senior partner in the law firm: SimmonsCooper Partners, a leading commercial litigation and corporate commercial firm in Nigeria. He represented the former governor of the Central Bank and current Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, in his suit against Goodluck EbeleJonathan, a former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In the year 1988, Osibanjo was appointed the Special Advisor to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a position he held until 1991. Osibanjo later got appointment as a lecturer in the University of Lagos where he also became a professor of Public Law.
In the year 1999, Osibanjo was appointed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State during the regime of Bola Tinubu as the governor of the state. Professor Osibanjo is the chairman, Board of Trustees of Redeemer’s University.
Yemi Osibanjo is a member of several professional bodies including International Bar Association and the British Institute of International and Comparative.
