Normally, when filling forms especially online, you will notice a section for inputting zip code and you are confused on what it means and which code to put. This post is for you as it offers some clarification.

ZIP code Nigeria Meaning

ZIP means Zone Improvement Plan and it is used only in the United States. Unfortunately, the United State disregards postal codes from other countries as “ZIP” codes. Though they serve same function- for mailing purposes.

When handling deliveries, note that the USPS (United States Postal Service) has codes for other countries. They are also equivalent to the codes used within the US. Nigeria’s USPS code is 00176-0000.

What to do when filling forms requesting for Nigeria ZIP code?

Simply put 110001 or 23401 or 00176, one will surely work but the most common of the three is 23401. When filling forms requesting for Zip or postal code Nigeria, do not enter 234 as the ZIP code for Nigeria. This is Nigeria’s international phone dialing code but use any of three codes listed above.
