The Galaxy J7 sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of about 267ppi and a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. With this kind of display, It sure produces good viewing angles, clear and sharp color and good sunlight visibility. The only lag we noticed on the display was the non-availability of an ambient light sensor  which means that you would have to adjust the brightness manually in the settings.

The Galaxy j7 has a 5-megapixel front facing camera along with LED flash light for capturing clear selfies in low lighting conditions. We noticed that the front camera was just average as the flash light helped capture the object but was not to bright.

At the back of the device is a 13-megapixel auto focus camera with single LED flash. The camera is fair but not the best as it is similar to other mid-range Android phones like Tecno, Infinix, Gionee, e.t.c.

Software/Operating system

Samsung Galaxy J7 runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop). Apart from the default theme, It has two additional themes. The presence of the Smart Manager app lets you manage the Galaxy J7’s battery life, storage, security, RAM usage, and others.

RAM Performance and ROM

The Samsung Galaxy J7 comes with 1.5GB of RAM, you are only allowed 1.37GB of usable memory in the RAM with an Octa-Core Exynos 7580 64-bit SoC with eight ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs each clocked at 1.5 GHz per core. An inbuilt 16GB ROM of internal storage is available but only 11.6GB is available to the user. the smartphone has Samsung’s own.

Pre-installed apps such as  WeChat,  OneDrive, OneNote, Skype e.t.c, comes with the device apart from the regular google apps. The Samsung j7 doesn’t have a music player, so you will have to make do of play music. We suggest you download VLC media player to do justice to that.

The presence of SoundAlive+ and Tube Amp, when enabled improves the sound when using the earphones. The loudspeaker even when cranked up to the highest is kind of low which makes it nearly impossible to hear the phone ring in a noisy environment. There is the FM Radio, so you can also use the galaxy J7 as a radio set.

As with other Android smartphones, the galaxy j7 comes with connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and has 4G connectivity. It is a Dual SIM phone. One thing we loved was that both SIM 1 and SIM 2 support 4G with an option of enabling 4G in one SIM at a time, to increase the Samsung galaxy j7 battery life. It supports OTG which enables you to connect your flash drive when necessary.

Battery life

With the 3000mAh battery at full charge, the galaxy j7 lasted for the whole day with moderate use on 4G LTE. On heavy usage, according to our test, we ran out of power at exactly 10 pm which is fair considering the time.

One thing we know for sure that consumed the battery of the samsung j7 was the brightness which we adjusted to achieve the above result. But overall, with the power saving mode and ultra power saving mode, you should be getting an extended battery life. The battery is also detachable.

It is sold on Amazon, Konga and Jumia
