Access Bank Plc

Access bank are one of the leading financial institutions in the country. The bank was established in 1988 and was incorporated as a privately owned commercial bank in 1989. After recording much successes in its operations, Access bank was then listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange on November 18, 1998 before it obtained a Banking License from the CBN in 2001.

Another customer friendly bank to open a savings account with in the country is Diamond bank. This leading financial service provider is driven by innovation, operating with the most advanced banking technology platform in the market. In 2012, the company recorded a total assets of ₦1.7 trillion (US$7.3 billion) with a revenue of ₦28 billion before tax gained.

Diamond Bank PLC started as a private limited liability company in 1991 before it was approved by the CBN to operate in 2001. In January 2005, the bank’s equity base was increased following a Private Placement share business and it became a public limited company.

In May 2005, the Bank was listed on The Nigerian Stock Exchange and in 2008, was also listed on the Professional Securities Market of the London Stock Exchange becoming the first bank in Africa to create such record.

Ecobank Nigeria Plc

Ecobank Nigeria is one of the top commercial banks licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the national banking regulator. The company began operations in 1986, operating as a universal bank whose aim is to provide wholesale, retail, corporate, investment and transaction banking services to its customers in the Nigerian market.

Due to the merger between Oceanic bank and Ecobank in 2011, Ecobank Nigeria became a strong financial institution controlling total assets valued at approximately US$8.1 billion (NGN:1.32 trillion). This made the company one of largest banks in Nigeria in 2011. As at writing this article, the bank has over 700 operational branches in different states of the country, making it the second-largest bank in the country with the highest number of branches.
