Cristiano Ronaldo has secured a stunning £100million move from Real Madrid to Juventus and, in doing so, has sealed a £500,000-a-week contract.
His new deal in Turin sees his pay packet get bumped up dramatically, largely owing to Fiat agreeing to shoulder the burden of his £26.6m-a-year wages.
The new salary will also see him jump up to second in the list of the highest-paid footballers in the world, behind Lionel Messi (£40.5m a year) at Barcelona and before Griezman and Neymar (£31.7m) at Paris Saint-Germain.
Ronaldo also earns more than Alexis Sanchez, who earns £23.4m a year following his move to Manchester United back in June.
Players currently plying their trade in the lucrative Chinese Super League also make the top-ten list.
Oscar, Hulk (both Shanghai SIPG) and Ezequiel Lavezzi (Hebei Fortune) all earn upwards of £17m, while Mesut Ozil’s new Arsenal contract sees him pocket £18.2m.
Kylian Mbappe, who has shone for France at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, raked in a staggering £15.9m during his loan season at Paris Saint-Germain last season – and don’t expect that to change anytime soon with top clubs clamouring for the 19-year-old’s signature.
Paul Pogba makes up the final spot in the top 10 with his £15.4m-a-year deal at Manchester United.
Carlos Tevez is now the world’s highest paid player with a salary of £615,000 per week. Neymar is the second with £515,000 a week salary he collects at PSG while Lionel Messi is the third with £500,000 per week in a contract he signed.
