This post is all about how to borrow data from MTN and pay back. The service is known as MTN XtraByte and it was introduced by MTN to take care of the needs of Nigerians who love data on the go.
Many Nigerians will accept that their subscription expires at odd times and subscribing and activating MTN data at their location become out of reach, for this reason, MTN launched the MTN XtraByte that is easy to borrow and pay back at the customer’s convenience.
This newly introduced service as earlier mentioned is accessible to eligible active prepaid MTN customers to enable them borrow data on credit when they run out of data while browsing and pay back on their next recharge.
How to Borrow data on MTN XtraByte and Pay Back
To request MTN XtraByte, that is to say, to borrow data from MTN (please remember you’re borrowing and have it at the back of your mind that you will pay back), simply dial *606# on your MTN line. Select option 3 get MTN XtraByte Service and select any of the data options that you can afford to pay for later.
The value of the data options available for you depends on credit limit for the month, which is determined by how much you have recharge within that month.
To check your XtraByte data, dial *606# again, then choose check balance.
Remember that the value of each borrowed data is inclusive of 10% charges.
You should note that the primary target market for MTN XtraByte is all active MTN prepaid subscribers. To check for your eligibility status for this MTN XtraByte service, dial *606# and then choose 1.
Please note that your SIM must be registered, your line must have been active on the MTN network for at least 3 months, your main account balance must be between N0 and N12 to request for MTN XtraByte.
Importantly, you have to make a recharge and usage of at least N500 within a month to be able to use any of the XtraByte service.
To payback XtraByte data borrowed, customer must recharge his or her account and the amount of data borrowed is first deducted from the recharge amount and the balance, if any, will then be loaded in his/her main account. This means that if a subscriber owing N200 XtraByte and recharges N400 credit card the N200 owed is first deducted from the recharge, then the remaining N200 will be loaded into the subscriber’s main account.
In cases where the recharge amount is less than the outstanding XtraByte data amount, next recharges will be used to recover whatever is outstanding until the debt is fully recovered.
Note that you cannot use any bonus airtime given to you by MTN to pay for any MTN XtraByte debt incurred.
