It is normal in a democracy for opposition to speak out and the Buhari-led administration has had its fair share of such. There are those who support the policies of the President, while others criticize the decisions due to the hardship, hunger and economic downturn of the country.
Among these three men below, who do you think is a more vocal critic of the Buhari led APC government?
1. Femi Fani Kayode
He is a Nigerian politician, essayist, poet and lawyer. He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was with the opposition’s All Progressive Congress (APC) until June 2014 when he returned to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. Although his family lineage originates from Osun, he was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on 16 October 1960 to Chief Victor Babaremilekun Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode and to Chief (Mrs) Adia Adunni Fani-Kayode. He is an Ile-Ife chieftain of Yoruba descent.
Fani-Kayode was the Special Assistant (Public Affairs) to President Olusegun Obasanjo from July 2003 until June 2006. He was appointed the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 22 June to 7 November 2006 and as the Minister of Aviation from 7 November 2006 to 29 May 2007. He is a strong critic of the Buhari led APC government and has written a lot of articles both in Newspapers and the social media to support his claim.
2. Ben Murray Bruce
Ben Murray Bruce is a Nigerian business mogul and politician. He is the founder of Silverbird Group. A member of the People’s Democratic Party, he was elected to the Senate of Nigeria in March 2015, and currently represents the Bayelsa East constituency, in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He is popularly known for his common sense talk. An open minded individual, Mr Ben Murray Bruce is also a critic of the Buhari led APC government.
3. Governor Ayodele Fayose
If there is one man that gives President Buhari and APC sleepless nights, it is no other person that Governor Fayose of Ekiti State. He is a man that fears no one, speaking out his mind without minding the consequences. On June 22, 2016, Fayose had claimed that Aisha Buhari, the wife of the Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari was the same person indicted by a US Court for transferring $170,000 to indicted US Congressman, Williams Jefferson, in the William J. Jefferson corruption case involving Halliburton. He also criticized the series of travels of the president, calling it a waste of resources when Nigerians are suffering.
