Alisson Ramses Becker is a professional footballer born 2 October 1992. He is mostly referred to as the “Messi of goalkeepers” and plays for both Liverpool FC and the Brazilian national team.
Alisson started his career at Internacional. It was at this club he made his first appearance winning the Campeonato Gaúcho in a four season spell at the club after making over hundred appearances. His performances at the goal post caught the eyes of AS ROMA and in 2016, he moved to the Italian side in a €7.5 million transfer deal but he wasn’t a starter as Wojciech Szczęsny was considered first choice due to his experience and fine performances.
When Szczęsny left AS Roma, Alisson broke into the first team and that was his breakthrough. He helped the club reach the semi final of the champions league where they were beaten by Liverpool football club in a tense match that ended 7-6 on aggregate in favour of the Premier League side.
On July 19, 2018, Alisson later signed for Liverpool for a record fee of €72.5 million which made him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper in history. He surpassed the likes of Ederson Moraes and Gianluigi Buffon to reach that feat.
He is referred to as the Messi of goalkeepers due to his reflexes, saves, skills with ball and he ranks among the 10 best keepers in the world, with the likes of Manuel Neur of Bayern, Thibuat Curtois, David D’Gea and Hugo Illoris also on the list.
Alisson represented his country Brazil at both under-17 and under-20 levels after which he was called by former coach, Dunga to join the main squad for the 2018 World Cup qualification matches against Chile and Venezuela. Alisson would later be called to the Brazil’s 23-man squad for the Copa América Centenario on 5th of May 2016.
Although he fumbled in his first match that ended in a goalless draw against Ecuador, he was still the preferred choice to other keepers in the squad. Brazil was later eliminated in the group stage after he conceded a total of two goals in three matches.
Alisson also represented Brazil in the 2018 FIFA World Cup where he was named alongside Ederson of Man city in Tite’s 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
