1. Orji Uzor Kalu

Orji Uzor Kalu is the former governor of Abia State and the Chairman of SLOK holding. He also owns Sun Newspapers and New Telegraph. Orji Uzor Kalu has paid his dues in the politics of Nigeria, little wonder he is regarded as one of the most powerful and richest politicians to have emerged from Igbo land.

2. Rochas Okorocha 

Love him or hate him, this man is undoubtedly one of the most powerful politicians in Igbo land today. Rochas is the current governor of Imo State and he played a huge part in ousting PDP from power and installing the APC-led Federal Government of Nigeria into power today.


3. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi

He was former speaker of the Rivers State house of assembly and later Governor of Rivers State. Chibuike Amaechi is currently Nigeria’s minister of Transportation. He is one of the richest politicians in Nigeria today and he, like Rochas Okorocha, helped to bring APC into power in the 2015 Presidential elections in Nigeria.

4. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

An embodiment of peace and honesty, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is Nigeria’s immediate past President. He was a lecturer, a former deputy Governor and Governor of Bayelsa State as well as a former vice president of Nigeria. Jonathan’s popularity in the political sphere increased when he shunned violence to embrace the result of the  2015 Presidential elections in Nigeria in which he lost to his opponent and incumbent President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

5. Chief Edwin Clark 

He is an elder Statesman. Formerly a minister of transportation in Nigeria, his political relevance is still felt in the South-South where he talks and people listen. Chief Edwin Clark is a rare gem and he still advises the Federal government from time to time.

6. Ike Ekweremadu 

Ike Ekweremadu is the current deputy President of the Senate of Nigeria. A position he has held since 2007 when he deputised for then Senate President David Mark. He currently deputises for incumbent President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki. Ike Ekweremadu is a lawyer from Enugu State and he is the most highly placed Igbo politician in Nigeria today.

7. Peter Gregory Obi 

Known simply as Peter Obi, this gentleman is the former Governor of Anambra State. He earned many plaudits for saving Anambra lots of money and making it financially stable. Peter Obi, known as “Okwute”, meaning “Rock” in Igbo land is truly a rock in the politics of Nigeria as a whole.
